Manijha, Teaching Position in South Korea

To Whom it May Concern,

With great interest in teaching abroad, I can definitely say that I appreciate the opportunity to apply for a teaching position in South Korea. As a major advocate for education for everyone and as a person who enjoys spreading knowledge to others, I greatly considered that teaching abroad for a year would not only give me the fulfillment of being a role model as a global citizen, but it will also allow me to expand on my experiences with those from other cultures. South Korea stood out as a top choice as I’m very much intrigued by its history and the role it plays in our society today. I also consider it a very unique country with beautiful scenery and wouldn’t mind being immersed in a culture that is seemingly different than my own.

I am a recent college graduate (Bachelor of Arts in Hispanic Studies) from Virginia Wesleyan University. I also completed a pre-health track during my attendance which included upper-level science courses, as I am an aspiring Healthcare Administrator.  I am currently taking a 170 hour online TEFL course through International TEFL Academy and am halfway finished. I do have plans for completing my course with some teaching and tutoring opportunities in my local area that will allow me to apply all that I have learned and to also gain a realistic experience of the job I will be performing abroad.

As a Hispanic Studies major, I have much experience on taking foreign language courses myself and I believe this gives me a great understanding of the possible mindsets the students will have as they will be taught English. I learned from my experiences with different Spanish professors the different methods and approaches that were most effective for me and will use this knowledge to trust the needs of my students. With the experience of traveling abroad to Cuba for four months, I also have the advantage of knowing what it’s like to be placed in a foreign country and have to adapt to the language, food, and customs and will use this knowledge abroad. Whether working on academic, extracurricular, or professional projects, I would describe myself as hardworking, open-minded, creative, and responsible. I can guarantee that these traits will hold weight inside and outside of the classroom.
