Ellesia, New English Teacher Application

Dear Selection Committee:

It is with great excitement that I am applying to become an English teacher in South Korea. My experience of exploring new perspectives in my career field, combined with my thirst for growth, passion for cross-cultural exchange, and the fact that I have a Bachelors degree, Masters degree and a TEFL certification would make me a great asset to your school and team of teachers.

I am a native-English speaker and experienced professional with inter-cultural competence and empathy for people that I help in whatever field I pursue. It is essential in effectively solving issues which is my passion. I believe this makes me an ideal candidate for this position. My Masters in design degree at Illinois Institute of Technology with a concentration in user experiences and human centered design, has taught me to adapt to multicultural teams, and to understand while exploring different points of view as we seek solutions to problems. In regards to my TEFL Certification from the International TEFL Academy, I have 180 hours completed with an additional 10 hours of teaching. This gives me the qualifications to be an effective teacher wherever I may go in the world. In the classes I have taught I was able to adapt to my class since they all were multiple international adult students aged 18 – 65 and comprehension levels ranging from beginner to advance. I am flexible and able to teach one-on-one or a full class. I also have the ability to complete a Learner Profile on a student which will assess what the student truly needs to focus on and the best methods them to effectively learn English.

I have a very strong work ethic and I am accustomed to multitasking, and priority sorting. I also make sure to stay well organized for efficient. If needed, I can prep my own class by creating all course materials, including quizzes and reading samples, making sure to keep things engaging and challenging for the students. My classes are well rounded and have focused on improving students’ grammar, listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. My knowledge of the best teaching practices, especially in language instruction, is exceptional and I strive to be creative with students who may need more help and focus. I have 5 years in experiences working and studying with diverse people in fast-paced and professional settings.

I am accustomed to presentations and have great communication skills, as well as technological literacy, and can work with any type of computer system or network for an enhanced learning experience.

The opportunity to apply my skills and knowledge, not only to teaching, but also to learning more by engaging with the people of Korea can’t come any sooner. I am excited about my new explorations, what I can teach others as well as learn from them. I wholeheartedly believe that we are never done growing and that it is a mistake to think that there is nothing left to learn.
