10/09/24— 11/8/19 Elite Educational Inc. Yeonhee-dong, Seoul ESL Teacher I was a full time ESL instructor in a private academy. I taught private one on one lessons as well as group classes with 2-10 children. I worked with mostly grade school aged children, but also had some preschool, kindergarten, and even middle/high school classes. I was responsible for a mix of reading and writing classes. Reading focused on the comprehension of longer texts and novels, while writing focused on paragraph and essay writing. I was also responsible for monthly progress reports, report cards, and creating monthly review tests. Also, I created detailed lesson plans week-by-week for every class, as well as conducted vocabulary quizzes and extensive detailed homework checks.
2010/04— 2010/06 Native American Center Portland, Oregon After-school Tutor I tutored grade school children 2-3 hours a week during an after school program in areas of Math, English, foreign languages, writing, and art. I built trusting relationships with the students and coached them to learn and discover answers themselves, as well as helped them to find their academic and personal strengths and confidence. I also practiced supportive encouragement and became a role model as I helped the students develop positive ways to deal with the hardships they face by being part of an ethnic minority group.
2008/12— 2009/08 Private Tutoring Seoul, Korea English Tutor Twice a week, I tutored English as a second language one-on-one with a ten year-old grade schooler. We covered basic grammar usage, writing grammar and vocabulary in sentences and paragraphs, as well as out-loud reading practice. I also focused on building every-day conversation skills as well as practical usage of essential vocabulary.
