To whom it may concern,

I am a well rounded creative teacher who whole heartedly enjoys seeing her students successfully learn and use the English language. Let me briefly explain why your school and students would benefit greatly from having me as one of your teachers. Although I do not yet possess an official teaching certificate, I am currently in the process of acquiring my TEFL, I believe the best proof of a teacher’s qualification comes from experience. During the past four years, I have acquired over 2000 hours of in-class experience. I feel confident and comfortable teaching all levels of learners, but teaching students between the ages of 3 and 10 is where my personality and teacher profile really shine. I use a strict communicative approach 100% in the target language and realize the need to stimulate all the senses of early learners and provide opportunities for them to encounter the new language in a variety of ways. Visually, I aid students understanding and pronunciation through specialized hand signs created to diminish common mistakes while providing clues to the grammatical and phonetic structure of English. Studying and understanding the Spanish language has been very important in creating these symbols that prove very helpful and effective at eliminating problems that Spanish speakers encounter while speaking English. Besides these visual cues I use in the classroom, I try to use music as a tool for language education as much as possible. I have practiced and performed music since the age of 5 and studied it in depth in university. I believe music is valuable in motivating students and introducing and expanding on the language in an enjoyable way. Perhaps the most important and often overlooked aspect of sensory learning is that of hands on participation. I believe in the philosophy of “I learn what I do.” Following this idea, I choose songs and games with lots of movement. When teaching preschoolers, I always include an art project with every theme. These points have only provided a brief glimpse of my philosophy as an ESL teacher. I am energetic and eager to continue improving my methodology and gain experience throughout the world with learners of various language and cultural backgrounds.
