강사 소개 |
I am an experienced (but flexible) teacher, eager to learn from my nw school, and eager to share my knowledge. I have boarding school and international school experience in four nations: Korea, Japan, Canada, and Switzerland. My best teaching experiences were in Korea, and I miss Korean students greatly. That is my sole interest in returning to Korea: the work. I have been teaching since 2005. I am currently living in Leysin, Switzerland. I have five jobs here, including ESP work with Nestle Corp in Lausanne and Vevey, Switzerland and TOEIC and TOEFL coaching through Kaplan College. In addition, I am a writing and communications teacher at KLAS - Kumon Japanese International High School. These are decent, lucrative positions, but I miss working with younger learners. All of my teacher training (with the likes of Geoff Petty and Phil Beadle) focused on evidence-based teaching methods for elementary aged students. I haven't enjoyed as many opportunities to practice my craft here as I would like. Thus, I am looking for more job satisfaction, and I am applying to certain schools, not just in Korea, that seem to be doing something different and can provide the sort of classroom dynamics I am looking for.
I lived in Korea over a cumulative five years, and I loved teaching there. I am hoping a forward-thinking school knows the benefit of hiring an experienced and slightly older teacher (though I assure you, I really don't look my age!). Though I enjoy working with the French-Swiss business executives here, I don't feel nearly as motivated as I did working with youngsters there. I can only imagine what it would be like to work with Korean students in a school that is aiming to do be better than average and give much deserving Korean kids experience with a teacher who has studied his pedagogy and knows the finest teaching methods.
I have experience as both an ESP (English for Specific Purposes) and ECE (Early Childhood Education) teacher in Canada, Korea, Japan and, most recently, Switzerland. I have various degrees and certificates in different areas of teaching. I am a dedicated and fun teacher, and I am always striving to evolve as a teacher. I most recently completed my fourth TESOL certificate in Teaching with Technology. I have also worked as a materials creator, and I plan my lessons with great care.
If you are interested in working with an experienced yet flexible and inquisitive teacher, who can thrive in the Korean work environment as soon as I arrive, please contact me soon.
