강사 소개

My name is Eric Antoine Giles and I am an experienced lecturer, instructor, and educator with 5 years of classroom experience. For 3 years I taught undergraduate courses in the USA, and for the past 2 years in Korea I have instructed secondary students and high school seniors in English while preparing them academically for life abroad. I believe my passion for teaching, commitment to my students, innovative teaching strategies, education, and professional experience will make me a valuable addition to Duksung Women’s University as an English instructor.

Professionally, my key accomplishments and skills include:

  • A Masters degree from North Carolina Central University in the USA.
  • 3 years of teaching undergraduate students in the USA. This included lesson planning, lecturing, assigning homework and projects, administering and grading exams and essays, and student evaluations as a collegiate assistant instructor.
  • TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification of 120 Hours
  • Teaching high school seniors in Korea in intensive 2-week courses. Besides basic English instruction, I prepared students for jobs and opportunities abroad in English-speaking countries.
  • Trained new teachers. In my current position as Head Teacher, I trained new foreign staff on my school’s academic procedures, lesson planning, and classroom management.
  • Taught bi-monthly discussion courses to Korean staff at my current institute. These discussion classes occurred once a week, every other month. Topics included current events, culture & society, business English, etc.
  • Head Teacher at a public institute in Korea. Besides training new teachers and assisting the 7 other foreign teachers, I also acted as a liaison between the foreign and Korean staff, providing support and assistance while respecting cultural differences.
  • Managed homeroom class and taught over 5,000 elementary students over the course of 2 years.
  • Curriculum development and instructional design as an EFL teacher via the subjects of English, music, science, and situational classes for elemntary and highschool students.
  • Presented as a Guest Lecturer for the CICC (Chungbuk International Cooperation Corporation) to advanced-level students.
  • Increased Korean students’ English education satisfaction from 94.6% to 100% in 2016-2017 (backed by statistical data via student evaluations).

My teaching philosophy consists of creating a comfortable, fair learning environment. I achieve this by utilizing teaching tools such as interactive activities, music, books, online media, group activity and individual work to keep students interested and motivated. Maintaining enthusiasm and interest in English is imperative for me; if the instructor is interested, the students will be more invested as well.

I hope you will highly consider my application for this position, and contact my references in Korea to verify my professional accomplishments, talents, and passion for education (reference information is included in my resume). Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to discussing my abilities further with you in an interview soon.

Sincerely,

Eric
